This beach functions as a separate island, located 6 km away from the main city. From the chunnambar boathouse, you’ll get access to reach paradise beach. The beach has utterly stunning views of shining white sand along with some water activities to engage with. If you want to enjoy its tranquil presence, try visiting the place during the off-season (September to November).

  • Sri Aurobindo ashram – It was established in 1926; a serene place queued with visitors to take the ashram tours. As the places are filled with many devotees, visitors are requested to maintain complete silence.
  • Pondicherry Museum – Located at Ranga pillai street; This museum has a great collection of local historic souvenirs, some stone sculptures from 6th to 10th century, a bronze gallery and different carriages.
  • French War Memorial – Located very next to Gandhi statue; a must visit place to the living memory of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for their country. You can see the eight pillars but restricted from walking into the grounds.
  • Statue of Joseph François Dupleix – Once a Governor in mid 18th century; the idea of French boulevards dividing canal and the city shows his brilliance to make the entire White town or French colony a standout. As a token of remembrance, his statue was built on Goubert Avenue near GMT ice-cream parlor.
  • Botanical Gardens – This place is extremely quiet, if you find noise on other spots. People won’t visit here much, entrance is free. You can take a walk into the trees and spend your leisure time.
  • Auroville, Pondicherry – The Ashram commonly referred to as “The Golden Dome” positioned in the middle of a beautiful garden is considered as one of the best tourist attraction spots in Pondicherry. This place was created as “home for all” regardless of culture and tradition, anyone can come and live in peace together.

  • Le café, Promenade – This is the only café located near White Town’s  waterfront seated facing sea shores and is available for 24 hrs. It is maintained by the government with an ever-lasting same tradition. They offer multi-cuisine and among those my favorite is continental dishes.

  • Mutton Samosa Café – Apart from popular cafes; located exactly opposite to Pondicherry railway station. Heard out from the locals about this shop and headed up to give a try. It tastes awesome and very unique, you’ll get a samosa for 20/- Rs and mutton soup as an add-on.

  • Zuka Chocolate Café – An authentic chocolate boutique imports cocoa and whips up yummy hot chocolates, desserts and unusual inventions like the chocolate pakora for all the chocoholics.

Street Junk

This market will be put up on Nehru street every Sunday where you can do a lot of street shopping. You surely end up buying a lot of things with less spending and you can buy souvenirs, candles, apparel, incense sticks, oils, and many more at an affordable price.
